My dear daughter,

Let’s talk about Blues!

Elmore James, Robert Johnson (they say he got his talent from a deal with the devil. It’s just folklore), John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Memphis Slim, Lightning Hopkins, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jimmy Reed, Eric Clapton, Leadbelly, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Jeff Beck, The Rythmen Blues, T. Bone Walker, Arthur’big boy’Crudup, Memphis Minnie, Billie Holiday, Big Joe Williams, Blind Willie Me Tell, Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Peter Chatman, Mississipi John Hurt, Kokomo Arnold, Joe Turner, Richard Berry, Ray Charles, Louis Jordan, Bishop Gatemouth Moore, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Little Water Juke, Bo Diddley, Joe Liggings & The Honeydrippers, Pee Wee Crayton, Charles Brown, Amos Milburn, Roy Milton, Johnny Otis, Etta James, Gordon Lightfoot, Commander cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, Albert Ammons, Jimi Hendrix, Louis Prima, Skip James, The Blues Brothers.

Blues has its roots with African people brought to North America to work as slaves in cotton farms, in what became today southern United States. They sing about pain and the hardships of life, lost love, mean women and such. It has a very distinct rhythm. It became popular all over the world in the beginning of the 20th century. And it heavily influenced rock and roll.

Love,

Dad
