My dear daughter,

Today we finally managed to set up a little happy hour between me, Zé and George (Nama).

Nama’s ex-wife is coming along too, but she’s cool.

Over the past 15 years it has become increasingly more difficult for us 5 to meet. In the past 5 years we might have met 2 or 3 times a year.

We all still live in the same city, except for Marcelo who lives in the UK since 2015. Well, Jedi lives in the metropolitan area, but it’s not far.

Work and family commitments usually get in the way. It just sucks.

There might be some degree of laziness involved. We still talk every day through instant messaging applications. We used to do that through e-mails before instant messaging apps became popular.

We used to meet every week. And every day when we were still at school. It doesn’t seem that long ago.

It’s important that we have kept our friendship. We are still close friends.

Nama and I live in the same neighborhood, like we used to some 20 years ago. But we don’t get together as much because of work, or because we’d rather have at least 3 of us to get together.

If I ever become a multimillionaire, I’m going to arrange for all of us to live in the same street with a nice bar or pub around the corner. So we can meet almost every day like we used to, and play RPGs every week.

If Zé has kids, you would also be able to play with them and grow with them.

It’s important to keep your true friends as you grow up. Studies suggest it plays a major factor in longevity and immunity. It’s also a lot of fun. It’s important to cultivate quality emotional bonds.

Love,

Dad
