My dear daughter,

It’s fun to imagine time travel. One of the many possible themes is what would you do if you could return to a past time of your life with the knowledge you hold today. It would pose an information paradox according to the physics we know today, but there are no limits to imagination.

I have spent some time reminiscing that I could have done a couple things differently, to have a different kind of life today.

It’s a trap, because what we expect of life is always changing. 10 years ago I… thought I wanted to become a judge or a prosecutor. I didn’t know myself very well back then.

I have also imagined how it would be like if I had studied Mathematics, Physics or Engineering when I finished High School, and went for a career abroad early on. It wouldn’t have happened anyway, because my context was all different. I didn’t want to do those things back then. I want to do them now and I won’t be stopped by arguments such as “this ship has sailed.” You can do anything you want at any point in life, provided you have the means and opportunities. It’s important to be prepared and go after what you want.

Anyway, up until recently I still thought it would be nice if I could alter the past in that sense, but I probably wouldn’t have met your mother.

Ever since you were born I can’t imagine a world without you. It has only been 5 months, excluding the pregnancy months, but I wouldn’t want my life any other way right now.

I’m very glad for everything that has happened so far, good and bad, that led me to you. I would go through it all again. We can change anything we want to from now on.

Love,

Dad
