My dear daughter,
I had a dream you said my name “Rodrigo”. And you were still just a baby. It was very moving.
You already are and have always been your own person and a full-fledged person. You don’t have to wait to grow up to become anything. You already are whatever you want to be. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
As Tyler Durden the wise put it, “You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.”
Of course you’re not the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. The rest is all true. The book quote is different, when the author talks about the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world, he meant to say we are all made of the same decaying matter, rich or poor.
From the moment you were conceived you are all your cells, neurons, emotions, memories, desires, contradictions and perceptions. You don’t have to be anything and you can be anything you want. Children usually “are” a lot more than almost all adults I know.
Love,
Dad
