My dear daughter,

What I really love about you, at this stage of development, is that you smile when you’re happy and you complain shamelessly when you are unhappy.

And you usually smile when you look at me or Eliane. That simple act means the world to us.

There is no mistake about your emotions, no holding back, no hiding, no hidden meaning. To a person like me, that’s the best form of communicating emotions. So I couldn’t be happier with our father-daughter relationship right now.

I know this will change, and I accept it just fine. I’ll have to learn how to deal with it as we go.

But I’ll always remember these days fondly and hold these memories dear.

Love,

Dad
