My dear daughter,
There are many stupid jobs nowadays. Most are useless or bring no value whatsoever to an organization or to society.
They have funny names filled with void concepts, like senior community engagement supervisor manager. They make for endless chains of middle management and control instances which could be simplified to a single instance or individual or even automated.
They can be fulfilled by almost any person of average intelligence, really. And these people are lucky those jobs exist.
Companies even force the education sector to provide long, extensive training for these ever-so-specialized fields of nothing.
Whenever these positions are minimally useful, they actually have something to do with a wider field of knowledge, such as Mathematics and Statistics. There are lots of “something” analytics out there which are simply Statistics.
My impression is that an intelligent person could take on almost any role inside an organization, but they are mostly interested in the ones certified by specific schools or who were lucky to have previous experience in some obscure area, which really accounts for nothing. It will all come down to the individual’s personal set of skills and intelligence.
In most fields few individuals actually account for the whole product or service which actually brings money in. Or lots of people account for it but are considered low-grade employees, like most industrial workers/manufacturers.
As the years go by it becomes increasingly clear A.I. will substitute most of these jobs. Some might remain just because of the status of their holders. Many rich countries will perceive it’s not good for companies to operate in a place with lots of unemployed, starving people, so universal income or some other market solution will probably become common-place. Maybe free distribution of essential goods. They might offer training in new areas which could bring more money and can only be done by humans.
Poor countries will, unfortunately, remain as providers of natural resources and cheap labor, because the colonial system never actually ended.
