My dear daughter,
Your mother and I haven’t really discussed it yet, but I strongly oppose pretending there’s a Santa Claus.
What’s the point of making you believe in something so absurd and out of reality and then expect you, years later, to disbelieve it by yourself?
It would raise a serious trust issue, right? I think it has been the object of scientific study already.
It’s also a dubious religious figure, appropriated by capitalism to sell toys and pretty much everything else during a time of the year which isn’t christmas, even if you consider the christian legend to be true.
It’s certainly better to raise you to be skeptical, which will help you with everything else in life. And I think you are smart enough to see the phony behind it, even if your friends and relatives believe it.
It’s just too ridiculous. And it’s a 20th century thing, it wasn’t even popular before that.
Still, it’s funny to observe how much you enjoy it.
Love,
Dad
