My dear daughter,
Research shows exposition to technological apparatus, such as smartphones and tablets, is harmful to children’s development. There is no safe exposition time and no safe age to begin contact.
It figures, those things are harmful to adults as well. They are stupidifying in the hands of most people, and they are no different whatsoever than other addictive drugs.
I see many parents putting smartphones and tablets with idiotic movies and apps in the hands of their children so they stop screaming or complaining. It’s easier for those parents.
Your mother and I prefer the hard, old way. No little screen during lunch-time or anytime for as long as we can prevent it.
The same goes for your pictures being shared online. Most people don’t realize the danger of sharing their pictures and info on today’s online communities. It’s like signing a contract giving up every right over your own image. If I share them with my parents and they share with your uncles and they share with anyone else, the damage is done. I really don’t want to see your face on stupid political memes or worse on the Internet.
So, if people want to see you, they can come visit us anytime, or we can show them your picture on our own smartphones. Just like when your mother and I were growing up.
Love,
Dad
