My dear daughter,

When a person makes no effort to build a friendship circle, to become more independent, to seek new interests, to study something new, to keep one or two hobbies, to reinvent oneself and learn to see life with new eyes… one is prone to madness.

If one puts too much importance on material assets, on the lives of other people, on one’s work, on money, even on the future, one is bound for unhappiness.

It’s important to not become overconcerned with people or relationships, to not judge all the time or to not assume one is being judged all the time, to go out, to travel, to laugh and to work on maintaining friendship and family ties in order to be happy.

Don’t waste too much time in front of TV, on the Internet and especially not on social media.

It’s also important to keep on learning. Never assume you know everything. Humble yourself before the Universe. We are too small even on a planetary scale. Space is too vast. Life is random and chaotic, we have little control, but it’s possible to find comfort in that fact. Why bother with control if it’s illusory? Why even bother with trivial nuisances?

Love,

Dad
